Annual appeal begins Sept 26

Please watch your mail, Grace Notes, and announcements for information on Mt Zion's 2022 Stewardship Appeal, which starts Sept 26 and goes through Nov 7. Appeal Commitment Sunday is Oct 24, and Celebration Sunday is November 7.

Guided by our new mission to Joyfully Grow Disciples in Christ, our overarching goal for 2022 is to better engage our members and newcomers into our ministry. The stewardship committee has organized proposed ministry initiatives around Mt Zion’s “Marks of Discipleship.” When we practice these marks of discipleship, we grow in faith and are essential to accomplishing Jesus’ Great Commission. Our proposed ministry initiatives will help all of us joyfully grow as disciples in Christ.

Serve at Mt Zion and beyond

• Energize Sunday school and initiate monthly service projects
• Help MZ’s teens attend the 2022 national Youth Gathering in Minneapolis
• Boost the Justice Team to help those in need and advocate for more just systems
• Strengthen volunteer partnerships with Tosa Cares, Reformation Lutheran’s ministries and Mt Carmel’s community dinner

Pray daily and worship weekly

• Support our new music director and the resources he needs to lead our worship
• Update our nursery so that families with young children feel welcome at Mt Zion
• Provide music leadership for the Sunday school children
• Remind the congregation about our free devotionals and the ongoing Prayer List

Study the Bible

• Provide furniture and shelves for new library, making it user friendly and inviting for all ages
• Invest in Adult Forum resources and opportunities for lively discussions & spiritual growth
• Fully remodel the MZ Youth rooms to meet the faith and community needs of our teens

Give of my time, talents and resources

• Improve Outreach Team’s communication of Mission of the Months, increasing excitement for our partner ministries
• Rejuvenate our volunteer community, including for front desk, faith formation, and worship
• Hire people to staff our nursery

Encourage one another in faith and invite others

• Make the office reception area more welcoming
• Improve signage, inside and out, to help guests find their way around
