Courage MKE provides services, support and resources to LGBTQ+ youth across the state of Wisconsin. Their aim is to ensure that all LGBTQ+ youth understand they are valued and celebrated. Mt. Zion has been a long-time supporter of Courage MKE, which opened the first group home for LGBTQ+ teens in 2019. And now, a second group home has opened.
CONGRATULATIONS COURAGE MKE!
In 2024 Courage MKE opened the second location, the C2 Apartments, just a few minutes from Courage House. This is a one -of-a-kind transitional living program aimed to provide not just housing, but support, resources, and guidance for Queer young adults aged 18-24 that are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or aging out of the foster care system. Residents are required to attend case management, obtain employment, health insurance, and food assistance. They are able to stay up to three years and are required to put 20% of their paycheck into savings for when they move out on their own. This population is significantly more susceptible to falling through very large systematic cracks than their non-Queer peers. At any given time this housing complex and program can assist six young adults. Thank you Courage MKE Board Member, Cristin Bock, for providing a mission moment during the Mt. Zion Outdoor Service. Mt. Zion is ready to help.
Please help support the work of COURAGE – MKE through your financial gift. Use the June mission of the month envelope, send or drop off a check to Mt. Zion indicating in the memo the June Mission or on line using the drop down category where you indicate June Mission of the Month.
Thank you! Mt. Zion
