Originally from Racine WI, Jason Meissner graduated from the University of Wisconsin La
Crosse in 2000 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Vocal Music Education with
piano emphasis.
Jason recently served as Director of Music at Dr Martin Luther Church and at Our Saviors Lutheran Churches in Oconomowoc WI. He has worked as Worship Coordinator, Organist, Pianist, Praise Band Director and conductor of both adult and youth handbells and choral ensembles. Jason served as accompanist and associate conductor for
the Milwaukee Children's choir and has also completed 17 years of teaching as Vocal Music Director for Glen-Hills Middle School, Wauwatosa West High School, at Whitman Middle School, Waukesha South High School, and at Viroqua High School.
Jason has served as accompanist for all state choirs for the Wisconsin Choral Directors Association, Wisconsin School Music Association and is frequently requested locally as choral and jazz accompanist for Waukesha West and North High School, Pius High School, Port Washington High School, Whitefish Bay High School to accompany for soloists, instrumentalists, choral ensembles and musical theatre venues. He has performed in barbershop quartet competitions and was one of the top 6 finalists in the international barbershop quartet competition of 1994 in Montreal, Canada.
Jason has been involved in musical theatre productions as a cast member in the 1940's Radio Hour Show, GODSPELL, GREASE, INTO THE WOODS, FOREVER PLAID, and was a cast member and music director for "The 4 Guys." He was music director and pit pianist/coconductor in high school productions such as: A CHORUS LINE, OKLAHOMA, BYE BYE BIRDIE, WEST SIDE STORY, GUYS AND DOLLS, CABARET, PIPPIN, ANNIE, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, FOOTLOOSE, ANYTHING GOES, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, CATS, INTO THE WOODS, JEKYLL AND HYDE, and LES MISERABLE. Jason received the "Outstanding Church Musician Award in 2015" from the Wisconsin Choral Directors association.
Jason is delighted to be back in Wauwatosa and appointed as Director of Music at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church and is looking forward to collaboratively “Making a joyful noise” with Pastor Tyler and Mt. Zion’s congregation members. His first worship service with MTZ will be September 19th!
