The Greater Milwaukee Synod is a partnership of Lutheran congregations in Milwaukee and the surrounding region. Together, we are able to do so much more than we ever could do alone. Through the Synod, we support ministries such as:
Outreach for Hope supports life-giving ministries that serve with the people of low income communities. These ministries not only provide help with daily necessities, but most importantly, they are centers in the heart of their communities for providing transformation and hope.
Breaking the Chains is a prison congregation that provides a place of worship and contemplation to give men, all of whom have spent time in several facilities in the DOC system, an opportunity to enhance their spiritual foundation and to further prepare them for the very difficult challenge of reentry.
Project RETURN (Returning Ex-incarcerated people To Urban Realities and Neighborhoods) exists to help men and women make a positive, permanent return to community, family and friends.
Through the purchasing of coffee, GMS congregations support local farmers in our international partner synod, the Diocese of Meru.
